Electric car sales in Ukraine climb up

Sales of newelectric passenger cars in Ukraine almost tripled in the first half of 2016, driven by tax cuts, local media reported onMonday, citing data from the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association. In January through June this year, a total of 192 electric cars were sold in Ukraine compared with only 72 vehicles in the same period a year ago. Local analysts attributed the surging sales to the exemption of green vehicles from import duties, ranging from 8 percent to 10 percent of the car price, starting from Jan 1, 2016.
