Elec­tric car sales in Ukraine climb up

Sales of new­elec­tric pas­sen­ger cars in Ukraine al­most tripled in the first half of 2016, driven by tax cuts, lo­cal me­dia re­ported onMon­day, cit­ing data from the Euro­pean Au­to­mo­bile Man­u­fac­tur­ers’ As­so­ci­a­tion. In Jan­uary through June this year, a to­tal of 192 elec­tric cars were sold in Ukraine com­pared with only 72 ve­hi­cles in the same pe­riod a year ago. Lo­cal an­a­lysts at­trib­uted the surg­ing sales to the ex­emp­tion of green ve­hi­cles from im­port du­ties, rang­ing from 8 per­cent to 10 per­cent of the car price, start­ing from Jan 1, 2016.
