2 dead, 8 missing in pair of shipwrecks

Two sailors died and eight were missing on Sunday after two separate shipwrecks. Rescuers were searching for six sailors from a fishing boat that sank in waters off Zhejiang province, according to the local maritime authority. The vessel, with 11 people aboard, sank around 5 am near Shulanghu Island, which is administered by Zhoushan city, according to the city’s maritime safety administration. Five people were rescued. In waters off Zhangzhou, Fujian province, another vessel sank in the early hours of Sunday after hitting a rock. Two sailors died, and two others remained unaccounted for. Air rescuers were searching for the two missing people.
