China remembers renowned historian
A symposium to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Hu Sheng, a renowned historian and Marxist theorist, was held in Beijing on Wednesday. Yu Zhengsheng, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, met Hu’s family members before attending the ceremony. Hu, who passed away in November 2000, was vicechairman of the seventh and eighth CPPCC national committees, from 1988 to 1998.
