Cleft lip therapy to be promoted
China Population Welfare Foundation and Chinese Stomatological Association signed a strategic cooperation agreement on Dec 28 to help children with cleft lips and palates, and to organize special training and seminars on orthodontics treatment. Since the foundation joined hands with Alliance for Smiles, a non-profit organization in the United States, to launch the “smile happily — help children with cleft lip and palate” project in 2002, the foundation has held 50 therapy activities and provided free surgery to 4,015 children from disadvantaged families. As treatment techniques for cleft lips and palates in China reach an advanced level, the foundation has begun to seek cooperation with domestic institutions. Sinocleft, a subsidiary of Chinese Stomatological Association, promotes high standards and efficiency in treating cleft lips and palates.
