Eight jailed for ancient coin theft

Eight people in Shizuishan were sentenced to prison for up to 10 years for selling coins they stole from an archaeological site by Huinong District People’s Court on Wednesday. Police have retrieved about 400 kilograms of stolen coins. An official at the regional cultural heritage bureau said more than 100,000 coins, mostly from the Song Dynasty (960-1279), and weighing close to 500 kilograms, were involved.
