Ukraine expects sugar export high

-

Ukraine’s sugar beet exports are expected to hit a new record high of 250,000 metric tons this year, the country’s sugar producers’ union Ukrtsukor said on Tuesday. The exports will rise due to a good harvest of 13 million tons, high carry-over stocks and a projected strong demand for the Ukrainian sweetener on the global market. Ukraine’s refiners are expected to produce about 2 million tons of sugar in the 2016-17 marketing year, while the carry-over stocks are estimated to hit 300,000 tons at the start of the new marketing season in September.
