Dubai’s designer program launched
The United Arab Emirates’s Dubai design district on Tuesday launched what it called the Empowerment Program through Industry Collaboration, to develop the fashion industry. Maitha Al-Suwaidi, director and head of relations management at the design district, said that 80 percent of the fashion sold in the Middle East and North Africa was imported from other parts of the world. Founded in 2013 by Dubai’s ruler, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, the design district has become home to hundreds of designers from around the world.
