Platform makes precious donation

The Chinese Trading Platform of Jade Stones made a 1 million yuan ($150,000) donation to the China Siyuan Foundation for Poverty Alleviation. Proceeds were to set up a foundation called Eco China, which focuses on poverty, left-behind elderly and children, as well as environmental protection. The donation ceremony was held at an evening opera gala dedicated to PLA generals in celebration of Aug 1, known as Army Day in China. Wu Hongwen, general manager of the trading platform, explained the goals of Eco China. Companies should fulfill their obligation of giving back to society by bringing hope and confidence to people, and Eco China is one way to accomplish that, Wu said.
