Zhong shines in Xiamen event

Chinese ace Zhong Qixin, a four-time IFCS World Championsh­ips winner and 2015 IFSC World Cup overall winner, won the IFSC Climbing World Cup Xiamen 2016 at the Tefang Portman Wealth Centre in Xiamen on Sunday.

The Xiamen stop was the last one on the World Cup circuit. Poland’s Dzienski Marcin was crowned the overall winner of the year with 485 points, while the women’s title went to Iuliia Kaplina of Russia with 520 points.

Attracting climbers from China, Russia, France, Slovenia, Japan and South Korea, the event was the first World Cup in Xiamen. The city hosted the national rock climbing competitio­n in June.

The IFSC Climbing World Cup has four races in China over the next year, in Chongqing, Nanjing, Wuhu and Xiamen.
