Fugitive caught after 17 years

A suspected murderer has been detained in Zhangjiagang after 17 years on the run. Xie Yiqi accidentally revealed his whereabouts to police when he calling his mother during the Lunar New Year holiday. The 37-year-old, who is accused of killing a migrant worker in 1999, had kept under the radar by working on construction sites around the country. His arrest was approved by the city’s procuratorate.
