WeChat fraudsters put on trial

A pair of alleged confidence tricksters have gone on trial in Wuxi on suspicion of defrauding an account of 1.36 million yuan ($198,000). The men, surnamed Zhang and Wu, are accused of hoodwinking the accountant, surnamed Qian, into thinking they were managers in her company. Zhang allegedly added Qian to a chat group on social media application WeChat in June last year and convinced her to transfer the money to a fake company in Shenzhen, Guandgong province by telling her that he was a manager surnamed Li. Qian sought police help when the real Li informed her that he had made no such request.
