Suspect stays in store overnight

A man has been detained in Xinyu for allegedly hiding inside a department store until it closed so that he could steal 70,000 yuan ($10,200) worth of jewelry and luxury goods. Police said surveillance footage showed the suspect entering an area of the store that was undergoing renovations with two quilts he had taken from the bedding section. He is also accused of taking a number of items under the cover of darkness before exiting the store once it had opened the following day. Many of the items were later recovered from the suspect’s hotel room, officers said.
