The Shanhaitia­n Resort Sanya, Autograph Collection, has secured a position on the Hot List of 2017 as one of the best new hotels worldwide. The 100-strong listing was released by travel magazine Conde Nast Traveler, after noted editors and reporters from more than 50 countries reviewed hundreds of new properties.

GREEN EVENT

Kuntai Hotel Beijing launched an eco-protection event designed for children on Sept 23 to increase environmen­tal awareness. Young participan­ts learned about tips for environmen­tal protection, competed in a quiz, enjoyed do-it-yourself activities and interacted with their parents in games. The hotel has designed a series of incentives to encourage its guests to join in the green efforts, its General Manager Zhang Hongying said.

CHARITY RUN

As Marriott Internatio­nal’s “Run to Give” charity event took place in different locations across the Asia-Pacific region on Sept 24, 24 hotels in Hainan province participat­ed in the event, raising 118,000 yuan ($17,750) for the Yao Foundation and the Sanya Social Welfare Home to support an educationa­l program for underprivi­leged children. Shanghai Marriott Hotel Pudong East is offering a hairy crab feast priced at 688 yuan ($105) net per person. It includes marinated fresh crab in special sauce, double-boiled pork ball soup with matsutake, grilled crab meat with butter in crab shell, braised mung beans with fresh crab meat and steamed pork dumpling with fresh crab roe. 021- 6036-8888 Park Hyatt Beijing launched king crabs at its China Grill restaurant as a seasonal treat as of September. The crabs are imported from Russia, mostly netted in the icy waters of the Sakhalin and Kamchatka regions, with an average weight of around 2.5 kilograms. 010-8567-1098
