Photos of a young couple after their home burned to the ground were recently widely circulated online with an upbeat message. After the fire destroyed their house on Monday in Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, they took selfies and a video inside the smoldering remains, reminding others to be careful of fires in winter and to accept what has happened to them with an open mind. In the video, they said with surprising pragmatism: “The first fire in the New Year, hope it will bring prosperity and wealth to all. Happy New Year!”
