a noted artist and writer, stud­ied Western paint­ing at the Art School of Beip­ing Univer­sity and the Art De­part­ment of Nan­jing Cen­tral Univer­sity. In­volved ac­tively in na­tional sal­va­tion ac­tiv­i­ties af­ter Ja­pan in­vaded China in the 1930s, she worked as a news­pa­per and mag­a­zine edi­tor in Shang­hai, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong, cre­at­ing il­lus­tra­tions and car­toons, and even per­formed in dra­mas. In the 1950s she be­came sec­re­tary of the Chi­nese Artists As­so­ci­a­tion’s Sec­re­tariat, in charge of ex­hi­bi­tion work at the Na­tional Art Mu­seum of China, while writ­ing prose and art re­views.
