The Feel of Paper
There is no doubt that ebooks are becoming more and more popular these days due to an easy access to a plethora of reading apps and periodicals whereas, on the other hand, printed books are getting hard to get by.
With the advent of COVID-19, virtual or online networking has never been so popular. We have seen companies shutting down and their employees having to work remotely or virtually to keep business going.
Whether we like it or not, the spread of the coronavirus pandemic has changed and is changing the way we conduct or do business, including the way we read. Nevertheless, I have realized during this period that there is still good number of people who enjoy their printed books.
Some people prefer the printed books because there is so much joy that comes with physically flipping a page with your finger and for some it’s simply because they want to show off their latest collection of books to friends.
For those who like ebooks, it’s because of the convenience they come with. I am one of those people who enjoy reading printed books. I can’t get over the feeling of paging through a good read just before retiring to bed.
I have a library of printed books that I haven’t been able to read due to busy schedules at work. But now, I find so much joy going through them, especially while practicing social distancing. My reading hobby has been revived! Every time I go through my timelines on social media, I come across a lot of posts from people either recommending or reviewing reads that often come in printed versions. For me, this just proves that printed books still take precedence over ebooks.
I believe ebooks are much more user friendly; they can be read anytime and anywhere. There is so much convenience associated with ebooks, especially when one is travelling, which means light luggage especially for some of us who like carrying almost our entire book collection. I have no doubt that there are a lot of ebook fanatics out there, but given a choice, my personal take is a good old printed read.
