Be Careful and Patient
With electronic products such as computers and smartphones becoming interactive windows for accessing digital information, we have entered the digital era where everything is connected.
We need to be thankful to the digital age. Information dissemination is fast through fibre optic cables, and the amount of information people can access has increased exponentially, leading to a rapid improvement in efficiency. It has become an instinct to search on a smartphone, rather consulting books, when we need answers. The vast amount of information stored on the Internet is like a large library that can be put into the pocket of every individual, enabling efficient information retrieval. Now with AI-based applications such as ChatGPT, information you need can be automatically selected and reorganised from a massive base of data, further enhancing our efficiency in retrieving information.
At the same time, we should also be aware that the vast information repository is filled with false information. While enjoying the convenient access to information, it is important to remain vigilant about the sources of information. In the digital age, the media may exaggerate or distort the truth in pursuit of readers and clicks. It is crucial not to blindly trust such information and to exercise discernment. The fastest news is not always the most accurate; sometimes, it’s necessary to let the dust settle.
A large amount of information received in a short period is often a challenge for the human brain to process, leading to incorrect judgments. Even ChatGPT, due to the current limitations of AI technology, may provide a seemingly true but not necessarily accurate response in areas it is not proficient in. This means although there are more ways to get information and a larger volume of information, it does not necessarily guarantee obtaining useful information. In the digital age, we need to slow down, scrutinise the information we obtain from the Internet, and carefully unravel the threads to discover the ultimate truth.
