Abstract: Objective To obtain profile of residues of organochlorine pesticides in medicinal materials and decoction pieces of Scrophulariae Radix; To establish the limit standard for the residue of organochlorine pesticides. Methods Rapid gas chromatography was used to determine the residues of 21 organochlorine pesticides in medicinal materials of Scrophulariae Radix from ten producing areas of China and 30 batches of Scrophulariae Radix Decoction Pieces from seven producing areas. The 99% confidence interval was investigated, and the limit standard for organochlorine residue of Scrophulariae Radix was established. Results The determination of residues of 21 organochlorine pesticide in samples of Scrophulariae Radix was among 0.000 1–0.077 7 μg/g, and contents of BHC, heptachlor, and endosulfan occupying 93%–96% of total pesticide residue. The national industry standard for the limit of organochlorine pesticides was established. Conclusion The residues of organochlorine in Scrophulariae Radix are mainly BHC, heptachlor, and endosulfan. The limit standard of total organochlorine for Scrophulariae Radix was no higher than 0.700 μg/g.
