PATEK PHILIPPE

-

Making its debut at Baselworld 2017, the Ref. 6006G Calatrava celebrates the caliber 240 movement’s 40th anniversary with a special design feature: the unorthodox position of the subsidiary seconds dial between 4 and 5 o’clock. The newest addition to the Calatrava family is a timely replacement for the watches of the 6000 series launched in 2005. Its predecessors’ sleek geometry has been updated with a classic white-gold case that has been enlarged to 39 millimeters, giving the watch extra prominence on the wrist and allowing for an expanded dial. Patek Philippe’s spirit of both innovation and continuity are evident in this timepiece. What remains unchanged from previous Calatrava models is the two-tone graphic concept, the uncluttered markings with plain Arabic numerals, as well as a highly readable analog date with a scale on the outer circumference of the dial. New details include richly textured dials in ebony-black and silver, a date circle adorned in a sunburst pattern, and a guilloched hour circle. The hour and minute hands are broader yet retain their lightweight appearance, and the former lunar crescent that tipped the date hand has now been supplanted by a red-lacquered arrow. On the bridge side of the caliber 240 PS C movement – whose exacting precision gives it a rate tolerance between -3 and +2 seconds per day – the recessed 22K gold minirotor is engraved with a Calatrava cross. For added comfort and style, the watch has a shiny black alligator strap secured with a foldover clasp in 18K white gold. patek.com
