ROOM TO ROAM

-

The revamped Tower Wing at Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore ( shangri-la.com) has become even more kid-friendly thanks to the launch of its family rooms and Buds by Shangri-La, a 2,150-square-meter indoor and outdoor play space. The latter has features ranging from a nature-focused Explorer Zone to themed activity areas like a “music studio” for budding performers and a classroom where children and parents can cook side by side. Kids under four years old even get their own Toddler Zone, furnished with swings and slides, a piano floor and ball pit, plus vintage children’s rides. Outdoors, a water play zone with splash pads allows the little ones to cool off in the tropical heat, while a pirate ship playground offers an enticing array of climbs and slides. Upstairs on the ninth floor, five themed family suites and 19 deluxe family rooms each accommodate two adults and two children up to 12 years old. The 72-square-meter suites sport whimsical interiors based on themes such as an animal safari and outer space, and have a connecting tunnel between the children’s and parents’ bedrooms, a pantry with a large fridge, and ample space in one of its two bathrooms for changing diapers. What’s more, guests can call on a dedicated family concierge to request childcare amenities from leading brand Stokke.
