For six weeks, a Big Top on Hong Kong’s Central Harbourfront will be home to performances of Kooza, a 2.5-hour extravaganza by Cirque du Soleil. A clown protagonist and acrobatics galore will keep the audience glued to their seats with a riveting spectacle of sound, light, color, and movement.

Her signature style involving psychedelic polka dots, nets, and pumpkins is bound to be a hit with the kids, and may even give them a head start on contemporary art appreciation.

A highlight of the winter calendar in Australia’s largest city, this annual 23-day festival is almost worth the trip alone. Large-scale illuminations, laser light shows, and 3D-mapped projects adorn landmarks like the Sydney Opera House, while waterside public spaces and parks such as the Royal Botanic Garden are festooned with an array of interactive light art sculptures and installations.

One of the world’s most popular musicals is roaring into the Lion City this year, celebrating its 20th anniversary on stage with an immensely talented South African ensemble. Mastercard Theatres at Marina Bay Sands will host the show with an award-winning Broadway score that doesn’t just feature music from the Disney film, but also three extra songs by Elton John and Tim Rice.
