China builds quality assurance system for Beidou applications

-

Several testing and certification organizations in China have initiated the development of a quality assurance system for the BeiDou navigation application, the Xinhua News agency reported on Friday.

Multiple institutes, including the China Quality Certification Center and CCIC Southern Electronic Product Testing (Shenzhen) Company, have participated in the development of the system.

China already has the testing capabilities for applications of the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System, said Lu Runxi, deputy director of the research center under the China Academy of Space Technology, Xinhua reported on Friday.

Products ranging from chips, modules, board cards and aerials to various kinds of intelligence terminal devices now can be tested in China, Lu said.

Sun Jiadong, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said that the BeiDou navigation system will soon join the global satellite network and provide global services, which makes it necessary and timely to start developing the BeiDou application quality assurance system, Xinhua reported.

With two BeiDou-3 satellites launched into space early this month, China is on track to create a global BeiDou Navigation Satellite System by around 2020 with more than 30 satellites.
