During the 2024 Spring Festival, the Eastern aesthetics amazed the world. The horseface skirt, which combines classical and modern beauty, has become the popular clothes for New Year greetings. Caoxian in Heze city, East China’s Shandong Province, relying on the advantages of e-commerce resources, has focused on developing the hanfu industry, forming a complete industrial chain from printing and dyeing, cutting, embroidery, pattern making, to finished garments.

Throughout the Spring Festival, the horse-face skirts, which sold 300 million yuan($41.7 million), were still in short supply, with 150 million sold in just Daji town. It is reported that Daji town, which started with e-commerce, produces most of the horse-face skirts in Caoxian. The local mayor revealed that there are now 400 graduate students who have returned to the town to start businesses with horse-face skirts.

Before the Spring Festival, the shops were busy packing 2,000 items a day, and the workers packing them complained of sore hands, with all the plasters in town selling out. As one of the first group of college students who returned to start businesses, Liu Shenfeng, said that he currently has three online stores and offline businesses. In January, the sales of just one style of horse-face skirt reached 10 million yuan, and the express delivery workers could earn 70,000 to 80,000 yuan as a “year-end bonus” per month. Even during the holidays, the customers seeking advice are overwhelming. “It is the responsibility and pride of all Chinese people that our own traditional clothes can be promoted and valued,” one netizen said.
