Old man caught on video adding dead roach to food

With the help of surveillance footage, police in Anhui Province caught an elderly man slipping a dead cockroach into his meal in order to blackmail a restaurant out of cash.

The sixty- something man, surnamed Tu, began bugging his waitress about discovering a roach in his plate of rice noodles.

“He said a free meal is not enough… you must compensate me, say at least 500 yuan ($ 75), which is a lot considering his bill was around 70 yuan,” the waitress told Jiangxi TV.

The restaurant owner refused to pay and called police.

Officers reviewed surveillance footage, which provided a clear shot of Tu adding the dead insect to his meal, mixing it in with chopsticks and then calling the waitress over to complain.

Tu confessed when presented the video proof.
