Germany to host Poland

Germany will host neighbors Poland in Berlin on September 16- 18 in the Davis Cup relegation playoff with their respective World Group places at stake, it was announced on Monday.

The teams face a playoff to stay in the World Group after losing their first- round matches when the Germans were narrowly beaten in Hanover by the Czech Republic while Poland lost 3- 2 in Gdansk to semifinalists Argentina.

This is the first time the neighbors will face each other since 1977. Germany have not played a Davis Cup match in the capital since Boris Becker and Michael Stich helped seal a 5- 0 win over Argentina in the quarter- finals in 1991.
