Hamburg is set to host the 7th Hamburg Summit in November, a high- level business forum that brings together businessmen, politicians and scholars from China and Germany, Lars Anke, director of Hamburg Liaison China, announced on Thursday in Beijing.
The two- day summit will focus on global economic situation, bilateral co- operation, industrial 4.0 transformation, and the “One Belt and One Road” initiative, Lars said.
The summit, which hopes to enhance and deepen Sino- German cooperation in industrial transformation, EU- China investments and the Belt and Road initiative, began in 2004 and has attracted high- level politicians from both countries.
Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong and former German chancellor Gerhard Schröder and some other top politicians from both countries will attend the summit.
Facing global economic challenges, “the Hamburg summit has been a platform to discuss opportunities for the two countries, ” Xiong Meng, executive vice chairman and secretary- general of the China Federation of Industrial Economics, said at a press conference.
“China’s fast economic growth is prompting European countries to pay greater attention to and seek more opportunities to cooperate with China by studying China’s policies and reform and then adjust their development strategy to match China’s step,” Xiong said, adding that dozens of representatives from the steel, textile, energy, finance and logistics industries will attend the summit.
