Jealous boyfriend mistakes cabbie as rival lover, crashes his car

A Jiangmen, Guangdong Province man was fined for intentionally plowing his car into a chauffeured vehicle because he thought his girlfriend was cheating.

The jealous guy, surnamed Zhong, Jiangmen, paid 8,000 yuan ($ 1,187) to a Pengjiang district court on charges of intentional damage to property for the May 23 incident.

According to the court report, Zhong became angry after he saw his girlfriend exit a private vehicle he did not recognize. Believing she was having an affair, Zhong intentionally crashed his car and asked questions later.

He soon discovered the vehicle he had totaled was a taxi his girlfriend had hailed using taxi- hailing app didichuxing.

No one was injured, and Zhong eventually turned himself in.

The accident resulted in 22,420 yuan ($ 3,326) in damage, according to the court.

Zhong also paid the driver an out- of- court settlement of 89,481 yuan before his trial.
