‘ A Collection of Song Dynasty Paintings’ donated to Free University of Berlin
Chinese representatives donated a copy of multivolume series A Collection of Song Dynasty Paintings to the Free University of Berlin at a cultural exchange conference in Germany on Friday.
A part of the Frankfurt Book Fair, the Sino- German Publish- ing Exchange Conference was jointly held by the Chinese Embassy in Germany, the Free University of Berlin’s Art History Institute and Zhejiang University Press.
Other major Chinese works were also presented as gifts at the conference, which seeks to promote friendly relations between the two countries.
Scholars and publishers from both nations attended the conference and a related forum to discuss copyright laws, typography and the importance of international cooperation.
An important resource for art historians, A Collection of Song Dynasty Paintings is a six- volume work featuring 843 Song Dynasty ( 960- 1279) paintings from 105 museums.
The Song collection is a part of the larger publication The Series of Ancient Chinese Paintings launched by Zhejiang University and the Cultural Heritage Bureau of Zhejiang Province in 2005.
