New Wu Guanzhong exhibition to be unveiled this December in Singapore
A new exhibition featuring the artwork of late Chinese artist Wu Guanzhong will be unveiled at the Wu Guanzhong Gallery in Singapore on December 12, according to a press release sent to Global Times from the National Gallery Singapore on Thursday.
Wu Guanzhong: A Walk through Nature will document Wu’s travels across China in search of the best scenery the country had to offer from the 1960s to the 2000s.
Through significant works such as The Yellow Earth Plateau painted in 1989 and 2006’ s The Yulong Mountains at Sunset, the exhibition seeks to present Wu’s exploration of natural beauty.
According to the press release, this will be the first of a series of exhibitions that will be held at the Wu Guanzhong Gallery.
Established by the National Gallery Singapore, the gallery holds a vast amount of artworks donated by Wu and his family.
One of the most influential artists in China, Wu is famous for his ink paintings that combine traditional Chinese art with Western modernism.
Looking for inspiration, Wu journeyed throughout China observing its mountains and rivers, which laid the foundation for an art career that spanned five decades.
Wu passed away in 2010 at age 91.
