Baidu to challenge ‘ slander’

Technology giant Baidu Inc has decided to take legal measures to defend its rights in response to the online defamation of its CEO Robin Li Yanhong and the company, according to a statement Baidu sent to the Global Times on Thursday.

The statement came after the overseas Chinese website bowenpress. com said on Wednesday that China’s Ministry of Public Security had restricted Li from leaving the country.

“After reporting the defamation issue and getting strong support from relevant government authorities, we have determined to take legal measures to defend our rights,” read the statement.
