Man takes on noisy neighbors with floor vibration machine

Police in Shaanxi Province said a man fed up with the noises from his upstairs neighbors’ kid retaliated with an even noisier contraption designed specifically for that purpose.

The fourth- floor resident reportedly turned on the device – an industrial motor propped against his ceiling – around 8 pm Saturday and left the apartment.

The shaken upstairs neighbors called police but officers were unable to locate the man until the next day.

Officers finally forced the man to turn off the machine on Sunday afternoon. It was not reported if a citation was issued.

The machines sell for around 400 yuan ($ 57) on sites like taobao. com, where they are advertised as “building shakers” to get back at noisy neighbors.

More expensive models come with nine different settings and a remote control.

The story shook up conversations on Sina Weibo.

“Where can I buy this, can’t wait to shake the kid who lives upstairs from me,” wrote “Xia chong.”

“We should respect our neighbors and avoid making noise at night,” posted “Xinwei.”
