Unicom cuts roaming fees

Telecom giant China Unicom said on Thursday that it will cut internatio­nal roaming fees in countries and regions along the route of the “One Belt, One Road” initiative starting on May 1, according to a statement on the company’s website.

Internatio­nal voice roaming fees will be reduced by 52 percent on average and data roaming fees by 75 percent, it said.

China Unicom also announced a new services package in 43 countries and regions along the route, with the price per megabyte to be less than 5 yuan ($ 0.73) in many markets.
