Film featuring basketball star Stephon Marbury set to hit the big screen on August 4

-

Chinese film My Other Home, starring CBA basketball player Stephon Marbury, has been moved to August 4, Hairun Pictures announced on Tuesday.

One of the most highly anticipated movies in China this summer, the sports biopic tells the story of how former NBA star Marbury accepted the offer to play in China during the off- season in the US and how he helped the Beijing Ducks Basketball Club become national champions.

Directed by Yang Zi, the film shot scenes in both China and the US.

“It is a film about a dream. Everyone encounters setbacks in life. This film will try to inspire people to push through the hard times and stick to your dream,” Yang said in a press release.

“From beginning to end, this film shows the correct attitude one should take when growing up.”

Since moving to Beijing in 2011, Marbury has become a fan favorite, not just because of his outstanding skill at basketball, but also due to his down- to- earth lifestyle such as taking the subway and his interactions with Chinese netizens on social media platforms.

With more than 4 million followers on Sina Weibo alone, Marbury is known by many nicknames among Chinese netizens such as Laoma ( Old Marbury) and Mazhengwei ( Political Commissar Marbury).

Over the past six years, Marbury has led the Beijing Ducks to win three CBA Championship Finals in 2012, 2014 and 2015. He has pocketed three MVP honors in China so far, including the 2010 All- star MVP, 2011- 12 MVP of the CBA Finals and 2012- 13 Foreign MVP.
