CCTV show reviews social, economic strides since 18th National Congress
China’s state broadcaster is airing a documentary highlighting China’s social and economic achievements after the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
The seven-episode documentary, Forging Ahead with Original Aspirations in Mind aired on China Central Television (CCTV) encapsulates the thoughts and actions of Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee.
The film shows how policies and top-down designs were formulated and carried out by the CPC Central Committee, detailing its courage, intelligence and sense of responsibility in fulfilling its dreams.
By telling inspiring stories, the documentary provides a vivid narrative of how Party members forge ahead while keeping original aspirations in mind.
Meanwhile other documentaries or programs highlighting the country’s achievements over the past five years and Xi’s diplomatic philosophy have been aired on CCTV in recent days, boosting patriotism among viewers ahead of the 19th CPC National Congress.
For example on Friday, CCTV aired a program highlighting Xi’s determination to crystallize “Chinese faith.”
The program stressed Xi’s high attention to socialist ideological and ethical progress as the president believes that faith is the “spiritual calcium” of CPC members and without faith, CPC members would suffer from a “cartilage disease.”
Last month, the six-episode documentary Amazing China made a splash across Chinese media.
The documentary features the country’s infrastructure development, technological innovation, ecological civilization construction, and China’s opening-up to the outside world.
The documentary Carrying the Reform through to the End, which summarizes the progress and achievements of the overall reforms initiated during and after the 18th National Congress of the CPC, was aired in July to inspire CPC members and the Chinese people.
The documentary shows Xi’s new ideas on the governance of China and comprehensively deepening reform as well as the CPC Central Committee’s deployment, top-level design and practice at primary levels.
