Car sales at nine-month high

China sold a total of 2.71 million cars in September, up 5.7 percent year-on-year and hitting the highest level so far this year, according to data released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers on Thursday.

Passenger car sales also rose 3.3 percent year-onyear to just over 2.3 million units in the month, but on a month-on-month basis, passenger car sales grew nearly 24 percent, the data showed.
