GAC Motor’s global plans on display at Fortune Global Forum
GAC Motor, the top-of-the-line brand under Chinese carmaker Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC Group), revealed its global ambitions at Fortune Global Forum in Guangzhou – home to the car conglomerate.
At the three-event last week, GAC Motor showcased its commitment to build an open, global environment for its sales network, research and development (R&D) endeavors, human resources and other areas.
As part of GAC Group’s sponsorship of the Fortune Global Forum, GAC Motor dispatched a fleet of 380 cars to provide transportation for attendees. The fleet consisted of the brand’s popular models such as the GA8 premium sedan, the GS8 luxury sport utility vehicle, and the GM8 multipurpose vehicle.
In addition to providing commuting services for the Fortune Global Forum, GAC Motor also invited about 120 executives of Fortune Global 500 companies, industry leaders and journalists at prominent media outlets to visit GAC Motor’s plant in Panyu to experience the best of China’s intelligent manufacturing. GAC Motor also showcased, through this global platform, its world-class products.
During the forum, GAC Motor’s cars, with their spacious interiors and fashionable and elegant exteriors, won high praise from top executives of Fortune Global 500 companies.
“The Fortune Global Forum really created a huge fortune for GAC Motor. This cooperation with the Fortune Global Forum marks a firm, powerful step in GAC Motor’s journey onto the global stage,” Yu Jun, president of GAC Motor said in a statement, characterizing GAC Motor as a Chinese brand that represents the country’s best in terms of openness and innovation strength.
“It is not only an opportunity for GAC Motor to show its innovative spirit, but one that allows GAC Motor to further improve its brand awareness around the world and lead ‘China’s intelligent manufacturing sector’ onto the world stage,” Yu Jun said.
GAC Motor announced during the Guangzhou Auto Show last month that it plans to sell cars in the US, which has been a tough market for Chinese carmakers to break into, by the end of 2019.
GAC Motor is also looking to expand its presence in the global industry chain, with a wide range of partnerships with the world’s top companies.
GAC Motor has formed R&D partnerships with companies from Germany, the US, Italy, the UK, Japan and elsewhere. In the US, the company has established an R&D center in Silicon Valley to focus on new-energy cars and autonomous driving.
GAC Motor is also planning to establish an R&D center in Detroit to focus on fuel consumption, emissions and safety regulations.
In addition, GAC Motor is focusing on forming a supply chain that consists of foreign and domestic companies across a wide range of industries such as vehicles, electronics and the Internet.
GAC Motor said it would continue to consolidate its global R&D resources and capabilities to pursue technological innovation.
“Openness and innovation are two key themes for GAC Motor’s development story and we will continue to tell the story on the global stage,” said Yu Jun.
