Xinjiang towns, villages celebrate Party spirit on loudspeaker systems

-

Xinjiang towns and villages have been using loudspeakers to repeatedly publicize the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in a move that local officials say is cheering people up and warming their hearts.

Loud speakers in Akto county, the Kizilsu Kirgiz Autonomous Prefecture of Northwest China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region began to repeatedly play reports delivered at the 19th CPC National Congress after it was held in October, as well as government policies beneficial to people, the region’s government said on Wednesday.

“We play the report of the congress every day on time, especially the parts people care about – just to make sure everyone can hear the voice of our Party,” said Song Rong, a prefecture official.

“My favorite thing is listening to the broadcast every day and getting to understand the preferential policies,” a villager Ezitili was quoted by the government website as saying.

Isma’il Kenji, Party branch secretary of a village committee, said that he even stopped riding his scooter when he heard the broadcast. He listened carefully and kept notes of key contents. “We will have a better life as long as we feel grateful to the Party, listen and follow the Party,” he said.

Apart from the prefecture, loud speakers publicizing the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress can also be heard in villages around Altay City, Altay Prefecture and Urumqi, capital of Xinjiang, according to local newspapers.

About a million cadres and employees in Xinjiang participated in a campaign in which they spent time living, working and studying with people from different ethnic groups, the Xinjiang Daily reported on Sunday.

The campaign is aimed at promoting the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the CPC to thousands of families in the autonomous region, the Urumqi-based paper reported.
