Chinese online retailer JD.com Inc and fashion e-commerce platform Meili Inc announced on Thursday that they will form a joint venture.

The venture will operate a new platform to attract more merchants and expand the selection of products available through JD’s shopping entry point through social messaging app WeChat, according to an email JD sent to the Global Times on Thursday.

Establishe­d in mid-2016, Meili primarily targets female customers. It has several different platforms, including Mogu Street and Meilishuo, among other popular shopping sites.

The new platform is scheduled to launch before next month’s Chinese Lunar New Year.
