Computer products plant in Kenya
Anycolor Computer Consumables Co plans to establish a Kenyan manufacturing plant and a marketing center for eastern Africa in 2018, an executive said on Wednesday.
Arecolor Kenya General Manager Xu Huanwen told Xinhua News Agency in Nairobi that the company will spend $10 million to produce printing products such as toner, ink, copy cartridges and power banks.
“We are looking for an ideal site in the special economic zones that has the entire necessary infrastructure,” Xu said.
Arecolor has two factories in China. The Kenyan facility will be its first overseas plant.
Huawei signs deal in Philippines
Huawei Technologies Co signed a $28.5 million partnership deal with leading Philippine telecom and digital services provider PLDT and its wireless unit Smart Communications Inc on Tuesday, said a statement posted on PLDT’s website.
The project is part of PLDT’s capital expenditure program for the overhaul of its fixed and wireless networks infrastructure and its information technology systems.
Under the 15-month agreement, Huawei will improve Smart’s online charging platforms and electronic loading for prepaid subscribers, according to PLDT.
By leveraging deep understanding of PLDT and Huawei’s worldwide experience, Huawei will offer its industry-leading technology to accelerate PLDT’s evolution in the digital market, according to Wilson Zang, president of the Huawei revenue management product line.
