Plastic ban hits foreign plants
China aims to become the global leader in the smart car industry by 2035 via efforts like developing homegrown innovation systems and road networks suited for smart cars, according to a draft plan released by China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) on Friday.
The plan illustrated the guidelines and key goals for the industry’s development in the next 17 years, with the target of raising the production of smart cars to 50 percent of China’s total new vehicles by 2020, and to build a strong reputation for producing quality smart cars and become the world leader in the industry by 2035, the NDRC said.
According to the plan, China will establish a national smart car panel led by the State Council, China’s cabinet, to coordinate and push the development of smart cars in China.
