Speedy delivery: Woman gives birth while standing in hospital lobby

A woman wowed doctors in Central China after she walked into a hospital and began to give birth right there in the lobby.

Video showing the mother-of-two surnamed Yang waddling in discomfort as she enters Changsha Central Hospital (CCH) on Tuesday morning.

Within seconds, the 32-year-old Yang pulled down her pants and braced herself for the coming child as her husband fetched bags from the car, the video shows.

Nurses can be seen scrambling to aid the unexpected delivery.

“I thought she might be delivering, so I went up to pull her trousers and instead saw the baby was already coming out,” said nurse Zhu Jili.

The group of nurses rushed Yang and hubby to the obstetrics ward, where she finished giving birth. The sex of the child was not reported.

While mother is fine, doctors said the infant’s lips showed signs of cyanosis – a bluish tint that can indicate low oxygen levels in the blood.

However, doctors were impressed how Yang kept her cool. “There was not much blood loss and she was in quite a good state,” said Tan Jianfu, head of obstetrics at CCH.
