Taxi driver tows wife through snow on tire, cop makes a show of it

-

A Northwest China cabbie was fined and suspended from his job after video of him towing his wife on a tire through the snow with his taxi went viral.

Video taken by an onlooker shows his wife enjoying the sled ride on an otherwise empty rural road in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region on Tuesday.

The woman laughs and waves as she rides behind the taxi on the vehicle’s spare tire being pulled by an orange cable, the viral video shows.

Unfortunately for the couple, the footage had also captured the taxi’s license plate.

That’s where Yinchuan police officer Hong Sheng saw his chance to get the last laugh – on his own “traffic show.”

Hong, host of online video series “Hong Sheng talks traffic,” ambushed the unsuspecting driver in a parking lot with a video crew.

During the segment, Hong hammed it up for the camera, scolding the driver while cracking jokes.

“So, did your wife eat so well that you only pull her back home?” said Hong, leaving the driver at a loss for words. “I’m the internet celebrity here, were you stealing the spotlight from me?” he added.

Hong takes more jabs before finally getting to the point: the driver had pulled the stunt on a public road and was being cited for reckless driving.

The whole bit would have been amusing if Hong had let the driver off the hook.

Instead, he fined him 100 yuan ($15), deducted three points from his license and got him suspended from driving his cab. Hilarious.
