Party paper calls Xi’s vision ‘light to world development’
As Xi Jinping’s vision to build “a community of shared future for mankind” was echoed by several speakers at the World Economic Forum (WEF), a Party newspaper on Thursday hailed the thought as a “light” to world development.
“Xi delivered two important speeches in Switzerland last January, which were in line with the world’s development course, reflecting the voices of people around the world, and had global influence,” said the article published on the front page of the People’s Daily, the flagship newspaper of the Communist Party of China (CPC), on Thursday.
The thought has “lit up the path for the development of human beings,” said the article titled “Xi’s speeches light up global development path with China solution.”
The two speeches refer to Xi’s speech in the WEF in January last year, together with his speech at the UN Office at Geneva, also last year, where he proposed the China solution of “Work Together to Build a Community of Shared Future for Mankind.”
His speech to the 2017 WEF has brought “sunshine” at a time when the globe was experiencing a sluggish economy, anti-globalization, as well as uncertainty and volatility, said Klaus Schwab, WEF founder and chief executive, People’s Daily reported.
“The 2018 WEF theme revives the concept of ‘a community of shared future for mankind’ put forward by Chinese President Xi Jinping who attended it last year,” Schwab said.
Themed “Creating a Shared Future in a Fractured World,” the 48th WEF annual meeting is being held in Davos, Switzerland from Tuesday to Friday.
At the forum on Wednesday, a series of speakers echoed China’s ethos on globalization, urging the world to shun protectionism and continue to bring down barriers to trade.
