Linqu county officers had pulled over the three-wheeled vehicle of the suspect, surnamed Zhao, on suspicion of drunk driving, only for relatives to show up at different times to the scene.

Some were also drunk, media reported.

The circus kicked off when Zhao, refusing to take a Breathalyzer, called relatives.

Zhao’s father soon arrived and attempted to drive the vehicle away.

Officers stopped him only to find he was intoxicated. During the melee, the father managed to swipe a piece of police equipment and play a form of drunken keep away.

Other family members soon arrived who then worked to block policemen from approaching Zhao.

At one point, a relative is seen clutching an officer’s leg.

The family had also attempted to make it appear that police were using excessive force by using the officers’ arms to hit themselves.

The degree of the father’s intoxication was not reported.

Zhao was detained for reckless drunk driving and resisting arrest, while his five other relatives were detained for police obstruction.
