Coal plant in Vietnam

China Railway 11 Bureau Group Co, a subsidiary of State-owned China Railway Constructi­on Corp, announced that constructi­on officially started on Wednesday on the second phase of a coalfired power plant in Vietnam, according to a statement on the company’s official website.

“The project is the largest coalfired power plant in terms of installed capacity invested in by a Chinese company in Vietnam,” read the statement.

The value of the contract is 170 million yuan ($26.59 million).

The plant is one of the Chinapropo­sed Belt and Road initiative projects implemente­d through cooperatio­n between China and Vietnam.

It is expected to ease electricit­y shortages.

Geely, Shell deal in Britain

Geely Auto Group and Royal Dutch Shell signed a global agreement that will lead to strategic cooperatio­n beyond lubricants, the Xinhua News Agency reported.

Huibert Vigeveno, executive vice president of global commercial at Royal Dutch Shell, said the agreement outlined broader collaborat­ion in the areas of research and developmen­t, new market entries and growth, as well as joint branded opportunit­ies in motor sports and corporate social responsibi­lity, the report said.

“Geely and Shell will collaborat­e on new digital opportunit­ies and opportunit­ies to work together throughout the energy transition,” said Vigeveno.
