Weather authorities in East China’s Jiangsu Province debuted the country’s first mosquito forecasts on Wednesday.

The hourly-updated reports rate mosquito presence over four levels of severity in different regions across the country based on relevant weather data.

The reports are available on weather.com.cn and relevant apps.

China’s mosquito season extends from June to September when average temperatures range between 25 and 30 C.

The yesterday’s forecast showed relatively high mosquito levels in Jiangsu and Anhui provinces, as well as Northwest China’s Shaanxi following recent rains in the areas.

In contrast, mosquito presences in drier West China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and Tibet Autonomous Region were lowest overall.
