Streaming site Sohu TV debuts ‘The Story of Souls from Endless Books’
Chinese streaming site Sohu TV released the first two episodes of its newest selfproduced drama The Story of Souls from Endless Books on Tuesday. The show was an almost immediate hit, receiving millions of views on its first day.
The drama, an adaptation of the popular novel of the same name, tells the story of a young girl (played by Chinese actress Yu Yue) who uses time travel to save other people’s lives.
The book, a collection of 80 short stories featuring the main character, has attracted millions of readers, who helped make it one of the top 10 women’s novels in 2015.
Commenting on the series’ use of time travel, Zhang Chaoyang, Sohu TV CEO, noted that the main character’s story is an encouraging one since her endless travels through time is what allows her to grow and become a winner at life.
According to Cao Di, the series’ producer, unlike previous time travel stories in China, the series aims to tell a story about how an ordinary person finds love through her own efforts.
