Restaurant serves humble pie to 1-star reviewer

-

Nothing gathers a crowd hungry for drama like a good old-fashioned takedown.

That was the scene outside a Chongqing restaurant recently when a restaurant deconstructed a customer’s one-star review on site dianping.com with a window poster telling their side of the story.

According to the reviewer “Xizhuangbaotu,” “sassy” waitstaff at the restaurant Shouyu Pinchuchupin had “ruined his date” by insinuating he was cheap.

The waitress said “Here’s your special priced crayfish. Please enjoy your meal.”

This didn’t leave a good impression on his date, who apparently wasn’t hungry for a second meal with him. He ended his review with “I hope your restaurant goes under.”

The restaurant struck back with a 1,000-word poster in their window, titled “You think you’ll find a wife acting like this?”

According to the owner’s account, the customer took forever to order, didn’t ask his date what she wanted, and had kept asking the waitress if the crayfish were the specially-priced ones.

“So for him to complain about our waiter confirming with him it was the crayfish special is ridiculous.”

The owner told reporters that his penny-pinching didn’t end there, saying he had brought in his own beverages.

He also noticed his date hadn’t really eaten, and then he asked for a doggy bag.

“No wonder he had a bad date,” the owner said.

The restaurant has 4 out of 5 stars on dianping.com.

Reporters reached out to “Xizhuangbaotu” and informed him of the owner’s response.

“I think the owner just wants to attract attention, so I’ll keep leaving bad reviews,” he said.

The customer also brushed off any accusations he was being miserly.

“I wouldn’t call that being cheap, I’d say it’s frugal. Anyway, she clearly has no taste.”
