Wrong approach! Man slapped in the face as he tries to win woman’s heart with public display of wealth
A 24-year-old nouveaux riche, who hails from Central China’s Henan Province, got a slap in the face when he was turned down by a woman he had offered 1 million yuan ($145,584) as reward to search for just with a picture of her back, the Modern Express reported Friday.
An advertisement on looking for a woman appeared on several advertising screens outside the shopping malls and buildings in Wuhan in Central China’s Hubei Province on September 25.
The man surnamed Zheng who placed the advertisement had only a picture of the back of the woman.
Zheng claimed that he would offer 1 million yuan to anyone who could help provide the woman’s whereabouts or the woman herself if she turned up. He also showed off his luxury car and several property certificates on the advertisement, asking the woman if she would marry him.
Zheng has been working in Wuhan since graduating from senior high school. He now owns a company and has five apartments and a car. Zheng spent 150,000 yuan on the advertisements.
He saw the woman’s attractive back on September 23 on his way to a meeting.
However, a similar advertisement appeared on the outdoor billboards two days later, displaying a woman in her luxury car and her 10 property certificates.
The woman advised Zheng to give the 1 million yuan in donations.
She claimed that she is a well-paid local internet celebrity, so she decided to turn down the man in this manner.
While some netizens praised the woman, others suspected the whole incident could be a cooked up story.
