Employees made to drink urine as punishment

Video of employees whipping each other with belts and drinking cups of urine is the latest clip circulating on social media showing underperforming workers in China being punished in unusual ways.

The uploaded clip shows workers getting lashed across the back with belts at a gathering for a renovation company in Zunyi, Guizhou Province.

In another, two of the employees are seen holding their noses as they gulp down what are reportedly cups of urine.

However, employees said the bizarre punishments didn't stop there, Pear Video reported.

According to a Sina Weibo post Wednesday by an employee using the name “xiaoxiaomuyiyayiyayo,” the company also punished workers by forcing them to drink toilet water and many liters more of drinking water.

Those who didn't meet quotas were also forced to eat large amounts of tear-inducing wasabi mustard and even cockroaches.

“If employees couldn't sign enough orders by the end of month, their team leader had to eat three cockroaches for every order their team was short,” a WeChat screengrab read.

Punishments at the company had been more excessive in October than in September because “the company planned to officially open for business in October,” an anonymous employee told Pear Video.

“Some workers' heads were shaved as punishment,” the worker said, adding they were still owed wages for October.

When called, the company's listed number was out of service, Pear Video reported.
